The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic management plan for the reconstruction of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway section between Super Bus-Stop and Ilepo Bus-Stop (inbound Lagos). The work, conducted by the Federal Ministry of Works, will occur from March 7 to May 30, 2026, closing this section of the main carriageway to traffic for 12 weeks.

To aid motorists during this period, alternative routes have been advised. Option 1 suggests diverting vehicles from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate to Lagos/Oshodi via the BRT Corridor, exiting at Pleasure Bus-Stop (Ilepo). Option 2 directs motorists through Ekoro Road to Old Otta Road, linking to Abeokuta Street and arriving at Pleasure Bus-Stop. Option 3 recommends using the Abule Egba Underbridge to connect to Agege and proceed to desired destinations.

Traffic on the opposite side (Abeokuta-bound) will remain open throughout construction. Emergency tow vehicles will be on standby within the BRT corridor to facilitate swift breakdown management. The government urges drivers to be patient, follow traffic signs, and cooperate with officials to ensure the project’s smooth execution.
